About the Programme

Applications are now open for the 2026 UNDP Pan-African Incubation Programme. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has launched a call for applications for AgriTech startups to join the timbuktoo Pan-African Incubation Network and the timbuktoo AgriTech Hub. Hosted in Ghana with support from the Government of Japan, this initiative is designed to identify, support, and prepare promising startups building innovative solutions for Africa’s agricultural transformation. The timbuktoo initiative represents UNDP’s commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship across Africa, recognizing that technology-driven solutions in agriculture are essential for food security, economic development, and sustainable livelihoods on the continent.

Programme Structure

Startups admitted to the programme will receive:

• Structured incubation support delivered by accredited incubators within the timbuktoo ecosystem
• Access to the broader continental network of founders, ecosystem partners, and investors
• Access to the timbuktoo Pan-African Incubation digital platform, powered by Seedstars’ SIGMA platform, which provides founders with:

• Structured tools for startup development
• Mentorship matching
• Learning resources and curriculum
• AI-powered guidance to accelerate startup growth
• Investment readiness preparation

The programme operates on a quarterly cohort basis, with the first cohort beginning in May 2026 and additional cohorts starting every three months thereafter.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible startups must meet the following requirements:

• Be based in Africa or building solutions that specifically target African agricultural markets
• Have a prototype or Minimum Viable Product (MVP) demonstrating proof of concept
• Have a committed founding team dedicated to the venture’s growth
• Address a clearly defined challenge within the agricultural value chain (from farm to fork)
• Demonstrate potential for growth and scalability with a clear path to expanding impact

The programme welcomes startups working across the agricultural spectrum, including but not limited to:

• Precision agriculture and farm management
• Supply chain and logistics solutions
• Market access and trading platforms
• Financial services and insurance for farmers
• Input distribution and quality assurance
• Post-harvest management and storage
• Food processing and value addition
• Agricultural data and analytics
• Climate-smart agriculture technologies
