Nonkululeko Gobodo stands as a monumental figure in South Africa’s economic history, recognized as the nation’s first black female chartered accountant. Her historic breakthrough came in 1987 when she passed the Public Accountants’ and Auditors’ Board examination, becoming South Africa’s first black female CA(SA). In 1999, she played a pivotal role in a strategic merger that would fundamentally reshape South Africa’s auditing landscape. Her firm merged with two others to form SizweNtsaluba VSP, which subsequently merged again in 2011 to create SizweNtsalubaGobodo (SNG).

This development marked a landmark achievement in the business world, as SNG emerged as the largest black-owned and managed auditing firm in South Africa, becoming the first enterprise of its scale to compete directly with the multinational “Big Four” firms. As Executive Chairperson, Gobodo led a practice deeply committed to transformation, delivering high-quality audit services while simultaneously demonstrating the vast potential of black economic empowerment within the professional services sector.

Evolution into Conscious Leadership
Following her retirement from SNG in 2016, Gobodo entered a new phase of influence by founding Awakened Global Citizen. This platform embodies her evolved philosophy, focusing on conscious leadership, spiritual growth, and personal mastery. Through this venture, she provides coaching, speaking engagements, and mentorship, guiding both individuals and organizations toward purpose-driven success.
