About the Scholarship
Becoming a mother is a life-changing experience, and at a young age, it can present unique challenges. Less than 2% of teen mothers earn a bachelor’s degree by age 30. This scholarship believes that motherhood should not hinder the pursuit of dreams and that young mothers deserve a robust support system to help them flourish. The Moms on the Rise (MoThR) Scholarship is more than just financial aid; it is a commitment to supporting ambitious teen mothers on their path to educational success. Balancing childcare, finances, and education can be overwhelming. This scholarship hopes to provide a helping hand and empower young mothers to reach their full potential.
Eligibility Requirements
- Any person who is or was a teen mother may apply
- Must be a resident of Washington or Oregon
- Highly preferred: Students residing in the following five counties in the Columbia River Gorge in Washington or Oregon: Wasco, Hood River, Klickitat, Sherman, or Gilliam

Award Amount: $5,600 total – 2 winners, $2,800 each

Essay Topic
