Mastercard Foundation FAST Program 2026 – Funding Opportunity for Young African Entrepreneurs

What Is the FAST Program?

The Mastercard Foundation Fund for Alumni Start-ups in Transition (FAST) Program is an initiative designed to support alumni entrepreneurs as they transition from education or early careers into startup leadership. Delivered in partnership with leading African ecosystem organizations including CCHub Nigeria, MDF Global, Concree, Scale up, Savannah Innovations Lab, the Center for Enterprising Organizations, Inkomoko, and the African Leadership Academy (ALA) the program provides tailored funding and enterprise support based on your business’s stage of development.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the 2026 FAST intake, applicants must be an alumnus/alumna of one of the following programs:

  • Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI)
  • African Leadership Academy (ALA)
  • Anzisha Prize
  • Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program

You should be an aspiring or early-stage entrepreneur with a for-profit business or idea, ready to participate in program activities. The application and program are available in English, French, Portuguese, and Arabic.

Note: If you are nearing graduation, you may receive a provisional acceptance letter and join the next cohort upon completing your studies.

The program strongly encourages applications from young women, refugees or displaced persons, and young people living with disabilities to ensure inclusive access to opportunities.

Funding & Support Benefits

Selected entrepreneurs receive a mix of financial and non-financial support. Funding amounts are determined on a case-by-case basis, considering the enterprise’s development stage and needs.

Financial Grants

  • Idea Phase: An average of USD $3,000 (up to $5,000) to help develop and refine your initial business concept.
  • Build Phase: An average of USD $12,500 (up to $15,000) to transform your idea into a viable business model.

Additional Support

  • Business development training
  • Mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs and experts
  • A supportive network of like-minded entrepreneurs
  • Access to partners and professional resources

Program Duration & Deadline

The FAST Program typically runs for 3–6 months, with activities and training designed to support founders at different stages of growth. The key deadline is:
