GovStack is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Women in GovTech Challenge 2026 – the third cohort of its global fellowship program. This initiative aims to empower women currently working in or aspiring to join the digital public sector to co-create citizen-centric digital solutions for governments.
About the Govstack Women in GovTech Challenge
The Women in GovTech Challenge is a six-week global programme that equips women with the skills, networks and confidence to create citizen-centric, safe and interoperable digital public services. Run by the GovStack initiative an open-source community co-founded by Germany’s BMZ, GIZ, ITU and Estonia it is now preparing its third cohort (Feb – Apr 2026) after two successful editions that trained 308 women from 50+ countries
Program Benefits
Selected fellows will receive:
- In-depth training on digital public infrastructure (DPI) and service design
- Hands-on mentorship from global GovTech experts
- Team-based prototyping experience
- Opportunities for international networking and professional visibility
Eligibility Criteria
The program is open to women from a variety of sectors, including:
- Government institutions
- Civil society organizations
- Academia
- Private sector
Applicants do not require advanced technical backgrounds. Instead, they should demonstrate:
- A keen interest in digital governance, service design, public policy, or civic technology
- Willingness to learn and collaborate
- Proficiency in English
- Availability to commit time during the fellowship period
