Call for Proposals: IPA Soft Skills Research Fund 2025–2026

Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) invites submissions for its Soft Skills Research Fund, designed to support rigorous research on the impact of soft skills on economic outcomes within low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This initiative is part of IPA’s Entrepreneurship & Private Sector Development (EPSD) program, aiming to generate evidence that informs policy and practice.

Research Focus and Priorities
The fund prioritizes studies that:

  • Use standardized tools to measure soft skills and related labor or entrepreneurship outcomes
  • Address significant gaps in existing evidence within LMIC settings
  • Are conducted by multidisciplinary teams, including at least one PhD holder or candidate

Eligible research methodologies include qualitative research, randomized controlled trials, pilot interventions, and quasi-experimental designs. Projects should be implemented in LMICs, with an emphasis on collaboration with local partners and dissemination of results to influence policy.

  • Expression of Interest (EOI) Submission Deadline: November 14, 2025
  • Full Proposal Submission (by invitation): January 30, 2026
  • Final Funding Decisions Announced: April 1, 2026
