About the Amber Grant
The “Amber Grant” was founded in 1998 by WomensNet. With one goal in mind, the grant was set up: to honor the memory of a very special young woman, Amber Wigdahl, who died at just 19 years old before realizing her business dreams. That tradition is carried on today by WomensNet, proudly giving away at least $30,000 every month in Amber Grant money. In recognition of the diversity of businesses owned by women, the grant-giving has also been expanded to include “Startup Grants,” “Business Category Grants,” as well as three $50,000 Year End Grants.

Why This Grant Matters
Since 1998, the memory of Amber Wigdahl, a young woman who died before she could realize her business dreams, has been honored by the Amber Grant. Millions of dollars to women entrepreneurs across the United States have been awarded by WomensNet over more than two decades. That women face unique barriers to accessing capital, including gender bias in lending, lack of collateral or credit history, and the challenges of balancing business development with caregiving responsibilities, is recognized by the grant program. By providing monthly grants and substantial year-end awards, overcoming these barriers is helped for women. For women entrepreneurs at any stage of business from startup to growth a simple application process and the chance to receive funding that can transform their businesses is offered by the Amber Grant.
