About the Scholarship

Since its inception in 2015, the Cynthia Lennon Scholarship for Girls has proudly awarded a total of 87 scholarships to girls across the globe, including countries such as Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Kenya, Myanmar, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States. This program has been dedicated to supporting young women in pursuing their educational dreams and empowering them to make a positive impact in their communities.  Applications for the 2026 school year are now open, inviting prospective candidates to seize this valuable opportunity. The scholarship is administered by the White Feather Foundation, an organization founded by Julian Lennon to champion environmental and humanitarian causes. The foundation’s mission aligns with the scholarship’s goal of fostering education and empowerment among young women worldwide.  Named in memory of Cynthia Lennon, Julian’s mother, the Cynthia Lennon Scholarship for Girls embodies her lifelong dedication to education and the empowerment of young women. It serves as a tribute to her inspiring legacy, emphasizing the importance of nurturing future female leaders who will contribute to positive change around the world. This scholarship not only provides financial support but also encourages young women to pursue their potential and become agents of progress in their societies.

Eligibility Requirements

Who Can Apply:

  • Any registered educational institution, charity, NGO, or school program with a functional website (social media pages do not qualify) is eligible to apply on behalf of their female students, providing they represent a minimum of two students
  • The scholarship does not have location restrictions. Remote learning institutions are also eligible to apply, but a country of origin where the students reside must be listed
  • Students aged 5 – 18 are eligible

Who Cannot Apply:

  • Parents or guardians cannot apply on behalf of their daughters. The scholarship does not award funding to families; only registered schools, programs, NGOs, and charities may receive the funds for the girls’ educational needs
  • Students cannot apply themselves. Student submissions are not accepted

Acceptable Uses of Funds

The scholarship funds may be used for:

  • Tuition
  • Room and board (if applicable)
  • Transportation
  • School uniforms
  • Vaccinations (if required by school)
  • Meals (if served at school)
  • Hygiene kits
  • School supplies (including books, paper, calculators, laptops, etc.)

The scholarship does not fund teacher salaries, school building renovations, etc. through the scholarship (though those types of projects may qualify for one of the foundation’s Education & Health grants).

Application Requirements

  • Applications must be completed in English
  • Only one application per group (duplicates will be removed)
  • If you have successfully submitted your form, you’ll receive a confirmation at the end of the process

Important Note: Please do not email for status updates. The foundation receives thousands of applications each year and cannot respond to each applicant. If your group is chosen as a finalist, you will be notified directly at the time of that decision. Groups that do not respect this process will be removed from future consideration.
