Through the Nordic Scholarship Programme, contribution to building capacity in the production of knowledge about Africa is aimed at by NAI, and promotion and establishment of relations with and between Nordic research communities are also sought.

Benefits of About the Programme

  • A desk and computer in a shared office at the Institute and free accommodation centrally located in Uppsala are provided to scholarship holders.
  • A subsistence allowance of SEK 450 per day is also included in the scholarship.

Note: Health care insurance and other insurances are not included in the scholarship.

  • Africa-oriented studies/research within the fields of social sciences or humanities must be pursued by you.
  • A master student, PhD candidate, postdoctoral or mid-career researcher can be eligible.
  • Application may be made regardless of citizenship, but affiliation to and being based at a university or research centre in Sweden, Finland, Denmark or Iceland is required (both when you apply and when you take up the scholarship).

Application

Apply online and upload the following documents:

  • Up-to-date CV, including list of publications (if any).
  • Objective of the research project: The research topic should be clearly identified and contextualized within its academic discipline.
  • Method and time frame: How the research project will be accomplished should be described, and the research method, data gathering techniques and time frame should be stated.
  • Theoretical explication: A brief indication of the theoretical basis of the research project must be included.
