About the Awards
The Gender Just Climate Solutions Awards 2026 is a distinguished international recognition platform dedicated to celebrating and promoting innovative, inclusive, and impactful approaches to climate action that are rooted in principles of gender justice. This awards program aims to highlight practical solutions that effectively integrate gender equality and women’s rights into strategies for combating climate change, fostering sustainable development, and building resilient communities. The initiative is led by the Women and Gender Constituency (WGC) and Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF), organizations committed to advancing gender justice within the climate agenda. The awards are made possible through the generous financial support of the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) and the European Union, under the broader framework of Women Power 2030, which seeks to accelerate women’s leadership and participation in climate solutions globally. Now in its 11th edition, the Gender Just Climate Solutions Awards continues to serve as a vital platform for recognizing outstanding grassroots and innovative projects that demonstrate how gender-sensitive approaches can drive meaningful change. The program seeks to elevate initiatives that not only address climate challenges but also promote gender equality, empower women and marginalized groups, and foster social cohesion. Participants of the awards are encouraged to showcase solutions that are scalable and replicable, with a proven impact on both environmental sustainability and social equity. By highlighting these exemplary initiatives, the awards aim to inspire policymakers, development agencies, community leaders, and activists worldwide to prioritize gender justice as a fundamental element of effective and equitable climate action. Through this recognition, the Awards contribute to strengthening the visibility of gender-responsive climate solutions, fostering cross-sectoral collaboration, and encouraging the adoption of policies that support gender equality in climate resilience efforts across diverse contexts and regions.

About the Women and Gender Constituency
The Women and Gender Constituency (WGC) is one of the nine stakeholder groups of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Established in 2009, the WGC now consists of 52 women’s and environmental civil society organizations that are working to ensure that women’s voices and their rights are embedded in all processes and results of the UNFCCC framework, for a sustainable and just future, so that gender equality and women’s human rights are central to the ongoing discussions.
Why These Awards Matter
Climate change is not gender-neutral. Women and girls are disproportionately affected by climate impacts, yet they are often excluded from climate decision-making and lack access to climate finance. At the same time, women are powerful agents of change – leading innovative climate solutions in their communities.
The Gender Just Climate Solutions Awards address this gap by:
- Recognizing innovative, inclusive, and impactful approaches to tackling climate change
- Highlighting practical initiatives that place gender equality and women’s rights at the heart of climate action
- Awarding €5,000 cash prizes to three winning projects
- Providing fully funded travel to COP31 – the world’s premier climate conference – for one representative per project
- Offering tailored mentorship from members of the Women and Gender Constituency
- Celebrating three categories – technical solutions, non-technical solutions, and transformative initiatives
For organizations and initiatives working at the intersection of gender equality and climate action, these awards offer recognition, funding, global visibility, and access to the UNFCCC process.
