About the Fellowship
The AI Societal Impact Lab Autumn 2026 Fellowship is an inaugural remote fellowship created to encourage informed public discussion and research on how artificial intelligence is affecting human societies. It is particularly focused on bringing emerging voices into conversations surrounding the social, political and broader societal implications of developing AI technologies. The programme will run remotely for approximately 8–10 weeks, beginning around mid-to-late September 2026. Fellows are expected to commit about four hours per week, consisting of one hour for a weekly group call and approximately three hours of individual research or programme-related work. The fellowship provides an opportunity for emerging researchers and professionals interested in AI’s societal impact to develop their ideas, contribute to informed discussions and deepen their understanding of the ways AI may influence society and politics. Further programme dates and specific details will be communicated to shortlisted candidates.
Eligibility
The programme is targeting recent graduates in social sciences and humanities, as well as early career researchers. However, diversity of both thought and representation is encouraged, and applications from other backgrounds (STEM, arts, etc.) are welcomed. Whilst previous experience on the subject of AI is welcome, it is not required.

Fellowship Curriculum
