Overview of the Fellowship Program
Applications are now open for the 2026/2027 Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity Fellowship Program. This program is designed to bring together the many diverse industries and professions that influence health and well-being, including, but not limited to: art, law, business, academia, medicine, government, journalism, social enterprise, research, media, housing, and health care delivery.

Fellows are selected based on their demonstrated commitment to health equity and their leadership potential. The program aims to build and support a global, multidisciplinary network of leaders equipped with the technical knowledge, skills, and network to advance health equity in their organizations and communities.

Eligibility Requirements
Ideal candidates are individuals who:

  • Want to become global leaders in the elimination of health disparities.
  • Are early to mid-career.
  • Are currently engaged in health-related work.
  • Are currently in a leadership position or a role with potential for leadership.
  • Value diverse perspectives.
  • Enjoy working in groups.

Program Expectations
Selected fellows are required to:

  • Attend in-person convenings throughout the year (a total time commitment of 4 weeks).
  • Participate in the online curriculum, which includes biweekly online classes, individualized coaching, peer mentoring, and team-based learning (12-16 hours per month).
  • Be proficient in the English language.

Please note that all educational experiences and travel expenses related to participation in the fellowship will be covered by the program.

Selection Criteria
Fellows are chosen for the next step of the application process based on:

  • The strength of their statement of interest, including past accomplishments demonstrating a strong commitment to health equity.
  • The quality of their project proposal.
  • The strength of their recommendation letters.
  • The completion of the employer support form.

Application Components
A complete application includes the following:

  • Personal Demographic Details: Basic background information to help understand the applicant’s professional context and environment.
  • Short Answer Questions: Responses to questions about your motivation for leadership, the communities you serve, the impact of your work to date, and a project you hope to advance during the fellowship year.

Note: Applicants may download a worksheet to prepare their written responses offline.

  • Video Questions: After submitting the written responses, applicants will receive an email invitation to respond to a few questions via short video recordings. Applications are not considered complete until the video responses are also submitted.
  • Note: All video responses are due by March 18 at 11:59 p.m. EDT (GMT -4).
  • Employer Support Form: A form completed by someone in a direct supervisory role, confirming the employer’s support of your participation in the fellowship. This must be uploaded PRIOR to submitting the application.
  • Letters of Recommendation: Two letters of recommendation specific to your interest in the Atlantic Fellows program. These should be from professional references who are willing to be contacted during the final selection process. At least one letter must be from someone in a direct supervisory role (this can be the same person who completes the employer support form).
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume
