About the Program

Since its inception in 2019, WIPT has successfully conducted five cohorts, each dedicated to empowering female electrical engineering graduates by equipping them with practical skills necessary for the solar energy industry. The primary goal of the program is to bridge the significant gap between academic knowledge and real-world application. While a university degree provides a solid theoretical foundation, it often falls short in preparing graduates for the complexities of commissioning solar sites, managing projects under pressure, and ensuring safety and efficiency in live environments. WIPT was specifically designed to address these shortcomings by providing comprehensive, hands-on training that transforms theoretical understanding into practical expertise. The program is built upon six fundamental pillars that ensure its effectiveness and relevance. Firstly, it offers advanced solar engineering training that goes beyond classroom theory, focusing on real-world applications and problem-solving skills. Secondly, participants gain invaluable hands-on project experience by working directly on live solar sites and installations, allowing them to apply their knowledge in practical scenarios. Thirdly, WIPT emphasizes industry-ready skills and safety protocols that are recognized and used globally, ensuring graduates are prepared to operate in diverse environments. Fourth, the program provides direct mentorship from experienced engineers at Daystar, offering personalized guidance and industry insights. Fifth, leadership training is incorporated to develop skills in managing teams and overseeing projects effectively. Lastly, WIPT fosters a professional network comprising peers and industry experts, creating opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, and career growth. Eligibility Requirements

Education:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputable University
• Completion of NYSC

Experience:

• 0–2 years experience

Skills:

• Strong interest in solar energy and sustainability
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Character:

• Self-motivated female engineer with a learner’s mindset
• Passion for renewable energy

Important Note: There is no application fee. WIPT is merit-based, and trainees receive a stipend for the duration of the program. While it’s not a guaranteed job offer, trainees who perform well are typically considered for full-time roles at Daystar Power.
