Applications Open – 2026/2027 Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals

The 2026/2027 round of the Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals is currently open for applications. These scholarships are awarded by the Swedish Institute (SI) to enable master’s studies in Sweden for distinguished professionals holding citizenship in a specified list of countries. Support is provided for full-time participation in one- or two-year, English-taught master’s programs offered at Swedish universities. Priority academic disciplines include Governance, Public Health, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). An integral benefit is lifetime inclusion in the SI Network for Global Professionals (NFGP), a collaborative community designed for ongoing learning and connection with international peers and leaders.

Eligibility Requirements
Candidates are required to satisfy every condition listed below:

• Country of Citizenship: Citizenship must be from one of the eligible nations listed. Residence within that country is not mandatory at the time of application.
• Master’s Programmes: Applications must be made to master’s programs that have been approved by SI. The official catalogue of qualifying programs will be released in mid-November 2025.
• University Admission: Applicants must be subject to tuition fees at Swedish universities. It is necessary to complete the standard application procedure through University Admissions and gain acceptance into an eligible master’s program by the date admission decisions are published.
• Previous Experience: Relevant professional work experience is mandatory (with particular stipulations for some regions). Applicants must also demonstrate verifiable leadership experience acquired through either employment or active engagement in civil society.

Eligible Countries
Eligibility for application is granted to citizens of the following countries:
Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Georgia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Ukraine, Vietnam, Zambia.

Benefits
This highly competitive scholarship offers a comprehensive, fully-funded package comprising:

• Complete Tuition Coverage: The Swedish Institute settles all tuition fees directly with the university each semester.
• Monthly Stipend: A living allowance of SEK 12,000 per month for the entire study period.
• Travel Funding: A single payment of SEK 15,000 (or SEK 10,000 for applicants from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine). This grant is not available to those already living in Sweden.
• Professional Network Access: Membership in the SI Network for Global Professionals (NFGP) throughout the study period to foster professional development and networking.
• Alumni Status: Upon scholarship completion, recipients gain entry into the Sweden Alumni Network, which provides a platform for sustained networking and career advancement.

The scholarship EXCLUDES coverage for:

• Health insurance (students should consult their host university regarding available coverage).
• Financial support for family members.
• The University Admissions application fee.
• Any alteration to the approved study program or scholarship duration (extensions or transfers are not permitted).

Application Timeline

• 16 October 2025 – 15 January 2026: Submit applications to master’s programs via University Admissions.
• Mid-November 2025: SI publishes the list of eligible programs and scholarship application documents.
• 9–25 February 2026: The SI Scholarship application portal remains open for submissions.
• 26 March 2026: University admission decisions are announced.
• 23 April 2026: The list of successful SI Scholarship recipients is published.
