About the program
GIT 9.0 is a comprehensive 12-month program designed specifically for women aged 18 to 35 across Africa. This transformative initiative offers hands-on tech training, mentorship from industry experts, and real-world experiences that prepare you for the dynamic world of technology and innovation.

The programme targets undergraduates, unemployed graduates or low-income graduates who can demonstrate active curiosity in technology, innovation or leadership; no prior coding mastery is required, only proof of drive such as online courses, campus clubs or community projects. Selected fellows begin with an intensive foundation in cloud tools, programming fundamentals and product thinking, then specialize in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), financial technology, health technology or climate technology, building market-ready solutions under the guidance of expert trainers from companies like Microsoft, Andela and Flutterwave. Throughout the year participants tackle hackathons, consultancy briefs for local start-ups and a mandatory internship that produces production-grade portfolios, while weekly mentorship circles refine interview skills, leadership presence and fundraising strategy.

The curriculum is deliberately aligned with global job-market standards, ensuring graduates can step directly into software engineering, data science or product-management roles, or secure seed funding for their own ventures. On graduation fellows join an active alumnae network now more than 1 200 women across 34 countries that continuously shares job leads, grant alerts and co-founder opportunities, turning African Girls in Tech Academy 9.0 into a lifelong launch pad for Africa’s next generation of female tech leaders.

Eligibility

Women aged 18–35 across Africa

• You must legally identify as female, be between your 18th and 35th birthday when you apply, and live in any of the 54 African Union member states. A government ID showing name, photo, and date of birth is required.

Undergraduate students, unemployed individuals, or low-income graduates

• Undergraduate students: enrolled now (full- or part-time) in a first-degree programme.
• Unemployed: no paid job or internship at application time; occasional gig work under ~US $100/month is still okay.
• Low-income grad: already hold a degree but your personal net monthly income is below the national living-wage figure (or default US $300 if none is published). Upload an enrollment letter, payslips, bank summary, or affidavit as proof.

Passionate about technology, innovation, and leadership

• No certificates needed, just evidence: online courses, hackathons, GitHub repos, community training, campus clubs, or volunteer projects.
• Your essays or video pitch must clearly link these activities to a specific African problem you want to solve and explain how the programme will accelerate that goal.
