Deserving students who are resident citizens of African Union member states or African Commonwealth countries are invited by the Government of Mauritius to submit applications for this scholarship opportunity.
Eligibility Criteria
The following requirements must be satisfied by all candidates:
- Citizenship must be held in African Union member states or African Commonwealth countries
- Full-time on-campus programmes (Diploma, Degree, MPhil or PhD) must have been applied for at public Higher Education Institutions in Mauritius for the 2026 academic year
- Undergraduate programme applicants need to exceed 18 years of age while remaining below 26 years of age by 01 January 2027
Scholarship Duration
Award periods will extend for either the minimum course duration or the maximum period specified for each programme type, with the shorter term applying. The maximum periods are established as follows: Undergraduate Diploma programmes may continue for up to three years, while Undergraduate Degree programmes can span four years. MPhil candidates receive two years plus an additional six months for thesis defence. The combined MPhil/PhD pathway allows three years plus six months for transfer report approval, followed by one year and six months for thesis defence. PhD scholars are granted three years with a six-month extension for thesis completion.

Application Procedure
Candidate submissions must be processed through the official nominating agency operating in the applicant’s home nation. The required application form requires electronic completion prior to printing. Essential endorsement for Section 5 must be obtained from the nominating agency, which typically functions within the Ministry of Education framework. A maximum of fifteen qualified candidates may be put forward from each country. The Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Technology in Mauritius must receive all application materials by the deadline of 27 March 2026.
