About AAUW International Projects Grants
Sustainable impact is fostered through these grants, which provide support to International Fellowship alumnae after they return to their home countries. Community-based initiatives that advance gender equity and enhance the lives of women and girls are the focus, allowing alumnae to apply their academic training and leadership.
Grant Benefits
- Funding of up to $15,000 is awarded to support project execution.
- An opportunity to generate tangible, positive impact within their communities is provided to grantees.
- The dedicated grant amount must be utilized solely for the purposes outlined in the approved project.
Eligibility Requirements
The following conditions must be satisfied by all applicants for the AAUW International Projects Grants:
- Nationality: Individuals must not hold U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
- Gender: Eligibility is restricted to women.
- AAUW Affiliation: Applicants must be AAUW International Fellowship alumnae who have concluded their academic program and met all fellowship obligations by June 30 of the application year.
- Project Location: Implementation of the project and residence must occur within the applicant’s home country for the full grant period.
- Special Consideration: Those living abroad due to war, political instability, or humanitarian emergencies may request to conduct their project outside their home nation. A compelling connection to the host community and a clear justification of how the project serves local needs must be demonstrated in these cases.
- Project Leadership: The applicant must act as the primary project director, bearing complete responsibility for all decisions related to programming, finances, administration, and content.
- Project Focus: A community-based project with direct benefits for women and girls must be led by the applicant.
