Application Deadline: 15 January, 2026
Applications for the 2026 intake of the AI and Multimedia Authenticity Young Researcher Associate Programme are currently being welcomed. This structured one-year research collaboration invites early-career researchers with strong potential to help solve the fundamental problems of trust, authenticity, and rights protection in an era increasingly shaped by AI-produced and AI-altered content.
To an AI-native generation, synthetic media represents a fundamental channel for expression and information sharing, significantly altering traditional markers of reality. The programme intends to work alongside emerging leaders to design what content integrity will look like in the future.
Research Journey
The existing definitions of authenticity and provenance will be challenged by the Associates through the lens of creators who are digital natives.
- Months 1–2: Definition: Idea generation and a comprehensive literature review will be undertaken.
- Months 3–6: Invention: Solutions will be designed for a reality characterized by collaborative creation between humans and AI.
- Months 10–12: Standardization: Input will be provided to standards and policy conversations involving major global stakeholders, including bodies like the ITU, ISO, and United Nations agencies.
Requirements
- The programme seeks young leaders whether students, researchers, or professionals who are presently enrolled in Master’s, PhD, or MBA programs and are actively confronting issues surrounding AI and multimedia authenticity.
- A diversity of viewpoints from every part of the world is welcomed and applicants from various fields such as AI, cybersecurity, business, and political science are encouraged to apply.
Benefits
- Expert mentorship: Alignment of research topics is used to match every Associate with a senior mentor from AMAS.
- Global collaboration: Participation involves monthly virtual All-Hands meetings for the complete cohort, in addition to dedicated Working Group sessions for specific sub-teams.
