About the Scholarship
The Airtel Africa Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of its fully funded University Tech Scholarship Programme for the 2026 academic intake. This initiative is designed to identify and support exceptional first-year undergraduate students in Uganda who have demonstrated academic promise and a strong commitment to pursuing careers in technology-related disciplines.
Scholarship Coverage
This comprehensive scholarship package provides successful candidates with full financial support, eliminating barriers to higher education. The award includes:
- Full tuition coverage for the duration of the undergraduate programme
- On-campus accommodation or an approved housing allowance
- Essential academic materials including textbooks, laptops, and software licenses
- A fixed monthly stipend for living expenses and incidental costs
Supported Fields of Study
The scholarship programme specifically targets students enrolling in technology-focused degree programmes, including but not limited to:
- Computer Science
- Software Engineering
- Data Science and Analytics
- Cybersecurity and Information Assurance
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- Information Technology
- Computer Engineering
- Telecommunications Engineering
Eligibility Criteria
Prospective applicants must satisfy all of the following criteria:
- Be a citizen of Uganda with valid national identification
- Have received formal admission into a technology-related undergraduate programme at one of the participating universities for the 2026 academic year
- Maintain a clean scholarship record (must not be a beneficiary of any other scholarship or bursary programme)
- Demonstrate academic excellence through secondary school examination results
- Exhibit leadership potential and commitment to community development

The scholarship is available at select accredited Ugandan universities, including:
- Makerere University
- Mbarara University of Science and Technology
- Uganda Christian University (UCU)
- ISBAT University
- Kyambogo University
- Additional partner institutions as may be announced
Application Timeline
- Application Deadline: 18 December 2025 (23:59 East African Time)
- Review Period: December 2025 – January 2026
- Shortlisting & Interviews: February 2026
- Final Selection Announcement: March 2026
- Scholarship Commencement: Academic year beginning August/September 2026

Prepare Required Documents:
- Certified copy of national ID
- Official admission letter from a participating university
- Secondary school transcripts and certificates
- Personal statement (500-700 words) outlining career aspirations
- Two recommendation letters (academic/professional)
