About the Fellowship
To a medical graduate committed to a clinical career with a major involvement in cancer medicine and research, the Murray Jackson Clinical Fellowship, a prestigious award, is available. Research-focused cancer-aligned specialists, across medical and surgical disciplines, it is intended to support. At the end of the Fellowship, the expectation is that the successful applicant will become an established clinician researcher practicing in New Zealand. Who supports the development of clinician researchers who will advance cancer care and treatment in New Zealand, the fellowship honors Murray Jackson. By the Cancer Research Trust NZ, one of the most prestigious awards offered.
Eligibility Requirements
The following are required for applicants:
- New Zealand citizens or permanent residents
- A relevant specialist College training programme must have been completed
Eligible Fields: In (but not limited to) the following fields, the Murray Jackson Fellowship will be available:
- Surgical disciplines relevant to oncology
- Haematology
- Radiation oncology
- Medical oncology
- Palliative care
- Cancer genetics
- Radiology
- Anatomical pathology
- Psychiatry
- Public health
Career Stage Options:
- A higher research degree may have already been completed by applicants, and to establish themselves with an ongoing research component to their clinical career, they may be seeking
- In the final stages of their specialist college training, applicants may be alternatively, and to enable them to complete a higher research degree or further research training, salary support may be sought

Fellowship Benefits
- One year of clinical salary, awarded over a period of one to five years, is the maximum value of the Fellowship
- Usually, only one Murray Jackson Clinical Fellowship per year will be awarded by the Trust
