While they develop their research skills or complete higher research degrees, clinicians who wish to conduct research often struggle to secure salary support. By providing salary support for one year (paid over one to five years, allowing flexibility), targeting cancer-aligned specialists across medical and surgical disciplines, supporting two career paths – those who have already completed a higher research degree and are seeking to establish a research component to their clinical career, and those in the final stages of specialist training seeking to complete a higher research degree, and requiring a commitment to becoming an established clinician researcher practicing in New Zealand, the Murray Jackson Clinical Fellowship addresses this gap.
