About Monday Onyeme Foundation Scholarship

The Monday Onyeme Foundation is an educational initiative established in 2017 by Sir Monday Onyeme, the Deputy Governor of Delta State. The foundation was created to support educational advancement in Delta North Senatorial District, with a core mission of ensuring that no child in Ndokwa land and across Delta North is denied access to education due to financial constraints. Since its inception, the foundation has provided scholarships to over 2,500 students. In the 2025 edition alone, the foundation disbursed over N140 million to 683 successful beneficiaries at a ceremony held in Asaba. The 2024 edition awarded over N100 million to 534 undergraduates, with each successful student receiving N200,000. The scholarship selection process involves a rigorous aptitude test. For instance, in the 2023 edition, 2,245 students applied, 981 were shortlisted for the examination, and 390 were successful. Top-performing candidates receive additional recognition, with the overall best performer receiving N600,000, the first runner-up receiving N500,000, and the second runner-up receiving N400,000. The foundation is supported by various donors and partners who contribute additional cash gifts to encourage the students. Supporters have been known to give cash gifts ranging from N50,000 to N200,000 to top-performing candidates. The Deputy Governor has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to human capital development under the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. At the award ceremonies, beneficiaries are encouraged to remain focused, uphold good character, and give back to society when they become successful

Applications are hereby invited from eligible undergraduates’ resident in Delta North for the 2026 Edition of the Monday Onyeme Foundation Scholarship.
