About the Scholarship Programme

The Women for Africa Foundation launches a new call for the Learn Africa programme, an initiative that, over the years, has opened real opportunities for training, research, and leadership to 462 African women, helping to strengthen their role in the development processes of their countries. The Learn Africa programme is a flagship initiative of the Women for Africa Foundation (Mujeres por África), established by Spanish businesswomen and professionals to promote the social and political development of Africa through the empowerment of African women. The foundation believes that investing in the education of African women is the most effective way to drive sustainable development, reduce poverty, and build more just and equitable societies.

Since its inception, the Learn Africa programme has awarded 462 scholarships to women from across the continent, enabling them to pursue master’s degrees, doctoral studies, and specialized training at leading Spanish universities. Alumni of the programme have gone on to become leaders in government, academia, civil society, and the private sector, driving positive change in their home countries.

Scholarship Benefits

Scholarship benefits vary depending on the type of programme:

Online Scholarships:

• Guarantee the cost of tuition and academic fees only

In-Person Class Scholarships:

• Tuition – Full coverage of academic fees
• Round-trip travel – Transportation to and from Spain
• Accommodation and meals – Either in university halls of residence or through a monthly allowance
• Health insurance – Coverage during the study period in Spain

PLANETA Scholarships:

• Cover tuition fees only
• Do NOT include travel, health insurance, accommodation, or living expenses
• These scholarships are exclusively for African women who can cover, at their own expense, the costs not covered by the scholarship while residing in Rabat, Morocco

EADA Larson-Torras Scholarship:

• Covers 100% of the master’s tuition fees
• Provides free accommodation during the programme
• Does NOT include travel tickets, health insurance, living expenses, daily expenses, transportation, or personal expenses – these must be covered by the recipient

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the Learn Africa Scholarship Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Basic Requirements:

• Being a woman with nationality and residence in an African country
• Being enrolled at an African university or holding a university degree issued in an African country
• The required qualification may vary depending on the scholarship applied for (see detailed information for each scholarship)
• Meet the specific requirements for the scholarship you are applying for
• Only one application per person will be accepted

To apply for a scholarship, applicants will need to attach the following documents to their online application:

Required Documents:

1. Passport or National Identity Document – Proof of identity and nationality
2. Photo – Recent passport-sized photograph
3. CV (Curriculum Vitae) – Detailed resume highlighting academic background, professional experience, and achievements
4. Diploma/Certificate/University Degree – As required for the specific scholarship
