United Nations University (UNU-WIDER) Visiting PhD Fellowship 2026 – Fully Funded PhD Research Fellowship Applications Now Open

Application Deadline: 31 March, 2026

About the Programme

The Visiting PhD Fellowship Programme provides registered doctoral students with the opportunity to utilize the resources and facilities at UNU-WIDER for their PhD dissertation or thesis research on developing economies, and to work with researchers in areas of mutual interest. Visiting PhD fellows typically spend three consecutive months at UNU-WIDER in Helsinki, Finland, before returning to their home institution. During the programme, fellows prepare one or more research papers and present a seminar on their research findings. They may also have the opportunity to publish their research in the WIDER Working Paper Series.

Fellows are expected to work on a specific research or policy-oriented topic related to the UNU-WIDER research programme during their stay. They become active members of the Institute’s research community and are expected to participate in research activities including seminars, workshops, and other events.
