Applications Now Open: World Energy Council Future Energy Leaders Programme 2026

Applications are now being accepted for the 2026 World Energy Council Future Energy Leaders (FEL) Programme. This global, diverse network is specifically designed for young energy professionals, aiming to shape, inspire, and develop tomorrow’s energy leaders. The platform selects a limited cohort of ambitious individuals to engage directly with the Council’s initiatives and to contribute to critical activities and events at national, regional, and international levels. The programme’s core mission is to empower a new generation of leaders equipped to tackle the world’s most urgent energy and sustainability issues.

A central goal of the Global FEL Programme is the enhancement of participants’ knowledge, practical experience, and professional skills.

Opportunities for Successful Applicants
Selected participants will gain the following opportunities:

• Contribute to Global Dialogue: Gain access to the Council’s energy transition tools and authoritative studies, participating as experts or observers. This allows for the development of specialized expertise while contributing to the World Energy Council’s international discourse.
• Lead Impactful Projects: Through a flexible, interactive framework, design and execute projects with tangible outputs such as webinars, events, and initiatives. These projects are fundamental to the programme, fostering community and enabling unique international collaboration.
• Attend Premier Events: Receive opportunities to attend select World Energy Council events, including the flagship World Energy Congress and World Energy Week. These gatherings provide a unique global perspective on energy challenges and solutions.
• Build a Professional Network: Establish and grow a personal network of international peers and senior professionals.
• Shape Future Energy Systems: Contribute directly to the vision for tomorrow’s global energy landscape.
• Bridge Generational Divides: Act as a conduit between established leaders and emerging talent within the energy sector.

Requirements
The programme onboards approximately 35 new participants annually. Applicants must meet the following essential criteria:

• Demonstrated, substantive interest and a proven track record in the energy sector (or energy+ fields). The CV should reflect specific achievements and leadership potential.
• Possess 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in an energy-related field, including junior management responsibilities.
• Exhibit high motivation to collaborate with the World Energy Council and commit to active membership in the exclusive Global FEL community for a minimum of one to three years.
• Have an advanced level of English proficiency.
• Be no older than 35 years at the time of application.
• Ensure availability for at least 15 days of contact time with the development programme (20 days in Congress years) and remain engaged for up to three years.
• Obtain formal validation and support from their current employer.
