World Bank Group (WBG) Pioneers Internship Program 2026 for Undergraduate & Postgraduate Students -Applications Open

About the Program
The 2026 round of the World Bank Group (WBG) Pioneers Internship Program is now welcoming applications. As the flagship internship initiative of the WBG, this program provides a structured pathway for both undergraduate and postgraduate students to combine academic learning with professional practice. Participants can expect to undertake substantial project work, deliver meaningful contributions, and acquire direct insights into the operations and global mission of the World Bank Group.

Program Details
A wide spectrum of interests is accommodated by the program, spanning operational and support functions in numerous fields. These include economics, investment and portfolio management, human development (covering public health, education, nutrition, and population), social sciences (such as anthropology and sociology), agriculture, environment, engineering, urban planning, natural resources management, private sector development, and corporate support areas like accounting, communications, human resources, information technology, and finance.

Interns will have the opportunity to actively support ongoing projects and initiatives across the WBG’s diverse focus areas. These range from health, education, and economics to environment, agriculture, urban development, transport, digital, energy, private sector development, and corporate functions. The experience is designed to build practical competencies, enhance professional skills, and foster collaboration with experienced colleagues, offering a clear view of how the organization advances global development objectives.

Eligibility Requirements
Prospective interns are required to meet the following eligibility standards.

For the Undergraduate Track:
Final-year status in an undergraduate (bachelor’s) program is required.

For the Postgraduate Track:
Current enrollment in a master’s or doctoral (Ph.D.) program is necessary.

For Both Tracks:
Candidates may have between zero and six years of professional experience. The possession of robust computing and other technical abilities will be viewed favorably and can strengthen an application.

Application Process
As part of the online application, the following documents must be uploaded:

·        A Curriculum Vitae (CV)

·        A Statement of Interest

·        Proof of Enrollment or an Education Transcript

·    Undergraduate Track: The transcript must explicitly confirm final-year bachelor’s student status.

·   Postgraduate Track: The transcript must explicitly confirm current enrollment in a master’s or Ph.D. program.

Tracks

·    Undergraduate Track (Bachelor’s degree students)

·    Postgraduate Track (Master’s / Ph.D. students)

Selection Criteria

·    Notification for interview invitations will be issued by March 2026. Final selections will be completed within the same month.

·    The WBG Pioneers 2026 cohort is scheduled to commence in April 2026.
The internship period spans from April to September 2026, with individual start dates for interns being flexible within this timeframe.
