About the Open Call
The STREAMING initiative announces the launch of its Open Call for Knowledge Transfer, a targeted funding opportunity designed to foster practical digital learning within sustainable food systems. This call forms a key component of STREAMING’s broader mission to enhance collaboration and capacity-building between African and European partners in the agri-food sector. By directly supporting the co-creation of applied digital training, the programme aims to translate research and innovation into actionable knowledge for those at the heart of food production and trade farmers, processors, and entrepreneurs. This €275,000 grant initiative underscores a commitment to creating more resilient, equitable, and efficient food trade systems through accessible education and inclusive empowerment.

STREAMING issues an invitation to organizations across Africa and Europe to respond to its Open Call for Knowledge Transfer. Grants of €25,000 each will fund a total of 11 digital training projects that reinforce sustainable food trade systems.

Research institutions, universities, NGOs, industry partners, vocational colleges, and innovation hubs are encouraged to apply. Their task is to design interactive, practice-oriented courses that bridge the gap between researchers and practitioners including farmers, producers, start-ups, and public health actors.

A central priority of this call is women’s empowerment. Proposed courses must meaningfully target women farmers, entrepreneurs, processors, and/or innovators. EU–Africa partners are funding interactive digital training courses that turn research into real solutions for sustainable food systems.

Topics of the Call
Training should focus on innovations in the following areas:

• Traceability in the food supply chain
• Life cycle assessment
• Nutritional requirements
• Reducing micronutrient deficiencies
• Food waste reduction
• Sustainable farming systems
• Food safety
• Scaling innovations in food supply chains

Who Can Apply
Eligible applicants referred to as Third Parties include:

• Research institutions and universities
• NGOs and industry partners
• Innovation hubs, business schools, and vocational colleges
• Consortia collaborating across Africa and Europe

A minimum of 60% of the total funding will be directed to African Third Parties. Special encouragement is extended to women-led organizations and female innovators.

Applicants may be based in any country, not limited to STREAMING partner nations.

Application Documentation
The Open Call Kit contains all essential information and documents needed to prepare and submit a proposal. It is designed to guide applicants through every stage from understanding the call’s objectives to meeting formal submission requirements.

Required documents include:

1. Open Call for Proposals – the official publication notice.
2. Knowledge Transfer Call text – this core document.
3. Proposal template – a Word document to be completed and submitted as a PDF.
4. Declaration of Honour (DoH) – a mandatory statement confirming eligibility and compliance with call rules.
5. Consortium Agreement – required for applications submitted by consortia.
6. Declaration on double funding for recipients – to be signed both at proposal submission and project completion.
